Clair Wells (AKA Candy Weston) is a 28yo stripper/lap dancer. She also studies floristry and criminology. She is about to take a 3 day road trip to a small fishing town down the coast where Charles Mulvane was killed 20 years ago. This is an unsolved crime that she is investigating for her college course.

Susan Mulvane is a 50yo reclusive widow. She owns the fish market but does volunteer work at the local Red Cross clothing shop. Apart from her mansion on the headland overlooking the ocean there is no sign of her wealth. She cleans out her bank account every month and moves the money somewhere else.

Amanda is the widow’s 23yo housekeeper. She has a crush on a young policeman but is too shy to do anything about it.

Amanda’s elder brother, David, owns a gardening business in Everly Cove. He was recently dumped by his girlfriend. He’s wondering whether casual relationships might be the go rather than putting your heart out there. He likes the look of Candy Weston when she arrives in town.

Brent is the young policeman Amanda has a crush on. He’s as shy as she is but he’s working up the courage to ask her out. Fresh out of the academy, he’s also curious about the unsolved Mulvane death. Mulvane had been found bludgeoned on the floor of his study. A safe had been left open and valuable heirlooms were missing. It looked like a robbery.

John Phillips is the manager of the fish market. He’s ex-navy and rendezvous with the widow Mulvane every Monday and Thursday for some loving. She was John’s school sweetheart before Charles Mulvane took her up to his mansion and married her. Their love affair started before the death of Mulvane. It was then, and is to this day, the worst kept secret in Everly Cove.

Nelly Mulvane is the 29yo daughter of the widow and her late husband. She resides in the upper level of the mansion looking out to sea and down on the cove and fish market. She never leaves her rooms. She hasn’t left the safety of the mansion in nearly fifteen years.

It is the middle of winter and Everly Cove is a wet and miserable place when the wind howls in from the Antarctic.
